• Angella Okutoyi sweeps four titles at ITF World Tour Nairobi W35 2026, held at the Parklands Sports Club in Kenya.
  • She defeated Italian Martina Colmegna in straight sets, 6–3, 7–6, for the second consecutive time in a week to be crowned the singles champion.
  • Okutoyi also clinched the doubles titles in both the first and second legs of the tournament.

Wimbledon doubles Junior history champion Angella Okutoyi completed a fourth title in a week after defeating Italian fourth seed Martina Colmegna in the International Tennis Federation (ITF) World Tour Nairobi W35 singles final on Sunday.

This was a rematch after the two powerhouses had also met in the first leg of the tournament held the previous weekend, where Okutoyi prevailed in two sets.

In the second leg, however, Okutoyi elevated her performance, securing victory in straight sets at the Parklands Sports Club.

She claimed the opening set 6-3 after a tightly contested start that saw her opponent remain competitive through the first three games.

The second set, Martina mounted a fierce comeback, and the two battled neck and neck. Just as Martina seemed poised to force a decider, Okutoyi held serve to level at 5-5.

The match then moved to a tiebreak, where Okutoyi’s superior serving and returns proved decisive, clinching the set 7-6 (6-3) to complete a straight-sets triumph.

This victory sealed a double title sweep in Nairobi, following her earlier doubles wins in both the first and second legs.

“I want to congratulate my opponent. Playing you has been challenging, but I know you have a bright future ahead and I wish you the best,” Okutoyi said after the match, also thanking her coaches, the media, and her family for their support.

She also dedicated the title to her late aunt, Cynthia, who passed away last December.

“I also want to dedicate this trophy to my aunt Cynthia- wherever you are, thank you for giving me this strength,” she added.

Okutoyi’s 2026 campaign has begun spectacularly, especially after a difficult previous year that included early exits from six events in Nairobi, the USA, and the Netherlands. She has now captured four W35 titles in Nairobi.

The Auburn University student will receive $4,860 (approximately Ksh 626,470) in prize money and 35 ranking points, boosting her standing as she continues her push toward Olympic qualification, having narrowly missed the last edition of the Paris Olympics after finishing just outside the world’s top 400.
