Speaking after the match, Coach Peter Okidi singled out his forwards for their clinical performance.

“I was impressed with how my attackers played. In the last game against Mara Sugar FC, we had many chances which we did not utilize. So ahead of this match, we talked to them all the way from Kisii to here in Nairobi. We talked to individual players and they worked on what we wanted, and that is what gave us these results against KCB,” he said.

Okidi also credited his defense for holding firm against a resilient KCB side.

“They had their chances which we really defended well, and we made sure we used our chances,” he added.

The backline’s discipline led by the SportPesa League player of the month of November nominee Goalkeeper Stephen Ochieng’ coupled with the forwards’ efficiency, was key to Shabana’s comprehensive victory.

Despite the win, Okidi was critical of certain officiating decisions, noting that his side was denied a goal and a potential penalty.

“We had a disallowed goal, we were also denied a penalty, a yellow card too. I think we will review the clips and make a judgement on the same,” he stated.

As the SportPesa League takes a two-week Christmas break, Shabana will look to maintain momentum when action resumes in January.

The Glamour Boys’ first match of the new year will be against Kenya’s CAF Confederations Cup representatives Nairobi United, before a crucial showdown with record SportPesa league champions Gor Mahia.

With the squad firing on all cylinders, Shabana could well be setting themselves up for a strong push for their first league title.
