AS Maniema Union goalkeeper Detan Ogundare is confident that his side will secure victory against SportPesa League outfit Nairobi United in their CAF Confederations Cup Group Stage match scheduled for Sunday 30 November 2025 at Kasarani Stadium from 4PM.

The two sides will make history as they meet for the first time as Nairobi United also host their first-ever CAF Confederation Cup Group Stage clash.

The goalkeeper spoke highly of Nairobi United, who are making their debut in the CAF Confederation Cup group stages having eliminated Tunisian giants Etoile Sportive du Sahel in the final qualification round.

“Everyone is ready for the game. We are not scared of anything because football is unpredictable and anyone can win. We are confident that we will get the win,” Ogundare said.

“It’s a big team, one of the best from Kenya. We have watched them play and they are a good side,” he noted.

AS Maniema Union head into this encounter full of confidence after defeating Tanzania Premier League side Azam FC 2-0 at home.

“Our win against Azam was a morale booster heading into this match. It was a good game and a great motivation for everyone in the squad ahead of our fixture here in Kenya,” Ogundare added.

Despite Nairobi United playing at home, Ogundare believes the match has no favourites.

“Even though they are at home, it will not affect our performance. This feels like a neutral ground to us, so their home advantage will not change anything. It is going to be a 50/50 game,” he said.

The goalkeeper will be hoping to guide AS Maniema Union to a crucial three points to keep pace with Wydad Casablanca, who already sit on six points after their 1-0 win against Azam on Friday.
