- The squad has been announced just two days after Kenya was confirmed as a host for the first leg of the Division 2 series next year.
The Kenya 7s management led by Head Coach Kevin Wambua, has named a well-balanced 25-man squad for the upcoming 2026 season.
The team has been in camp for the last two months, following the conclusion of the 27th edition of the Safari 7s, and is now preparing for the HSBC SVNS Division 2, which is set to kick off in February next year.
The squad features several established players alongside an infusion of vibrant new talent who impressed during the Safari 7s with the second-string side, the Kenya Morans, as well as those who excelled in the Zambezi 7s, where they clinched the title unbeaten.

Some of the promising youngsters who made their debut in the Safari 7s include the highly-rated Rayvon Ambale, who was named the Most Valuable Player at the Zambezi 7s after a standout tournament. Kenya Morans captain John Okoth has also secured his place in the squad.
Other exciting young talents include Strathmore Leos speedster Victor Mola Odhiambo, who also debuted in the Safari 7s with the Kenya Morans, alongside Clinton Amukwachi, David Nyangige, Arnold Agonda, Felix Odhiambo, Daniel Kipchirchir, and Eugene Ojiambo.
Meanwhile, Wambua has retained several core players, including co-captains Samwel Asati and his club counterpart George Ooro, alongside seasoned campaigners such as Vincent Onyala, fleet-footed winger Floyd Wabwire, Festus Shiasi, and Elvis Olukusi.
Electric winger Patrick Odongo, who enjoyed a stellar run in last season’s HSBC Series, has also earned a call-up, joined by Kevin Wekesa. Antony Omondi, Brian Mutua, and Christant Ojwang, all regulars- have been recalled, with Jackson Siketi also included in the mix.

The tournament, which SportPesa Blog revealed will be called the HSBC Nairobi Sevens, is scheduled for 14-15 February 2026 at the Nyayo National Stadium.
After the Nairobi event, the second leg will be held in Montevideo, Uruguay on 21-22 March, before the final round takes place in Sao Paulo, Brazil from 28-29 March.

Who will be competing in SVNS Division 2?
The SVNS Division 2 will feature six teams per gender competing across three events. The top four teams will then get promoted to the SVNS World Championship where they will meet the top 8 teams from the SVNS Division 1 in the last three outings of the season in Hong Kong, Valladolid and Bordeaux.
From the 12 sides, teams that finish inside the top 8 will get Division 1 tickets for the 2027 SVNS campaign.
Both the Kenya men’s and women’s national rugby 7s sides, Shujaa and Lionesses respectively, will be participating in the SVNS Division 2 in 2026.
