Kenya Police FC continued their steady rise in the SportPesa League 25/26 after grinding out a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Mathare United at the Police Sacco Stadium, on Saturday afternoon.
The Law Enforcers, who have quietly stitched together a fine run of form, secured their fourth win of the campaign in a match defined by intensity, tactical discipline, and missed chances on both ends.
Mathare United came into the game buoyed by a 2-0 win over Kakamega Homeboyz, prompting head coach John Kamau to tweak his squad with three changes.

Midfielder Musa Masika earned his first start of the season after impressing from the bench in their last outing, while goal scorer Donald Ange also returned to the starting XI.
Winger Paul Kinyanjui completed the trio of fresh legs as Kamau sought to maintain momentum.
On the opposite end, Police FC head coach Dusan Stojanovic opted to stick with the same lineup that edged Tusker 2-1, banking on continuity and the proven chemistry within his squad.

Police started the brighter of the two sides and nearly broke the deadlock inside ten minutes.
A sloppy back pass invited danger as Edward Omondi pounced, but goalkeeper Kevin Ouru reacted sharply to close him down and force the forward to lift his effort over the bar.
Mathare responded in the 17th minute with their best moment of the half.
A neat interchange around the Police penalty area freed Kinyanjui on the left, but he failed to hit the target, finding only the side netting.
Moments later, Masika’s free kick from distance crashed into the Police wall as the Slum Boys struggled to convert their buildup into threatening end product.
The breakthrough finally arrived in the 26th minute, and it came in bizarre fashion. Daniel Sakari curled in a teasing corner that caused confusion in the Mathare box, leading to an unfortunate own goal that handed Police the lead.
Police maintained their advantage into halftime, and Mathare responded by making two substitutions at the restart, bringing on Ouru and Kilume as they sought more stability in midfield.
They thought they had the equalizer in the 52nd minute when Donald Ange tucked the ball into the net, but the forward was adjudged to have handled the ball before finishing.
Sensing the need to protect their narrow lead, Police introduced Tobias Otieno and Marvin Nabwire in midfield before later bringing on defender Baraka Badi for the lively Omondi.
Mathare kept pushing, bringing on Ochieno and later Herit Mungai as they chased the game, but Police’s backline marshalled by captain David “Cheche” Ochieng’ alongside Charles Ouma held firm.
In the dying stages, Job Ochieng’ remained alert between the posts, calmly collecting crosses and organizing his defence to secure his fifth clean sheet of the campaign.
The final whistle confirmed a fifth win in six meetings for Police against Mathare, a statistic that underlines their growing authority in this fixture.
The victory pushes Police FC further up the table as their defensive solidity continues to be their strongest armour.
For Mathare United, the missed chances and disallowed goal will sting, but there were encouraging signs in their buildup play something coach Kamau will hope to build on in the coming weeks.
