The second-string men’s national rugby 7s team, the Kenya Morans, have stormed into the main cup semifinal of the 2025 Zambezi 7s Rugby Challenge.
They secured their place with a commanding 48-0 quarterfinal victory over the Old Miltonians.

The match, staged at Harare Sport Club on Sunday morning, saw Floyd Wabwire draw first blood, giving the Morans an early 5-0 lead after the conversion sailed wide just three minutes in.
Following a sustained attack deep in the Old Miltonians’ 22-meter area, Rayvon Ambale offloaded to Chrisant Ojwang on the left wing, who stretched the Morans’ lead to 12-0 as Kenya continued to dominate.
The Morans mounted another cohesive play just before halftime, further extending their lead to seventeen points. Captain John Okoth touched down in the right corner, sending the team into the break with a 17-0 advantage.

The second half saw Kevin Wambua’s squad strike immediately, adding seven more points thanks to Ambale, who pushed the score to 24-0. Ambale then secured his brace with another try, and a successful conversion set the tone for the semifinal with a 31-0 lead.
Substitute Victor Mola made an instant impact, crossing the whitewash to add five points and extend the lead to 36-0 after a missed conversion, with the Morans’ dominance remaining unquestioned.
The Old Miltonians, who struggled to enter Kenya’s 22, then coughed up possession in their own territory. The powerful Morans side capitalized on the error, with Dennis Abukuse doting down. A successful conversion by Ambale took the score to a formidable 43-0.
To seal the comprehensive victory and nearly reach the half-century mark, the Morans scored their final try of the day. Mola made a clever offload to Brian Mutua, who made no mistake in finishing in the left corner, finalizing the 48-0 quarterfinal rout and booking their spot in the main cup semifinal.
The Kenya Morans will now prepare for a semifinal clash against Old Georgians, who overcame Mutare 31-21 in another first quarterfinal on Sunday morning.
