- Blow for Shabana as key player Brian Michira suffers injury setback.
- Michira picked up the injury during their 1-1 SportPesa League draw against Tusker in October.
- The attacking midfielder will need to undergo surgery.
Shabana FC will have to wait for many months to see Brian Michira in action as the fan favorite has been ruled out for the remainder of the year due to injury.
The in-form striker picked up the injury during their 1-1 SportPesa League draw against Tusker FC at the Kasarani Stadium in October and is now set to undergo surgery.
Confirming the news, Michira expressed his disappointment, admitting that the development came at a crucial point in his promising season.

Blow for Shabana fans
“I am out for the rest of this year. It is heartbreaking, but such things happen in football,” Michira told SportPesa Blog.
The forward revealed that medical scans showed a groin tear which will require surgery once the injury reaches an advanced stage as recommended by his doctors.
“I underwent scans, and it’s not something light. I have a tear on the groin, so I’ll have to undergo surgery.
The doctors said we have to wait until it reaches grade 3, then we can proceed with the operation and see what next,” he explained.

Michira had enjoyed a bright start to the season, finding the back of the net three times in the opening fixtures. He admitted the injury has derailed his progress and forced him to rethink his season’s ambitions.
“I started the season well and felt I could make great progress toward my targets, but as it stands, that will not be the case. I’ll now focus fully on recovery,” he added.
Despite the setback, the Shabana talisman remains optimistic and is determined to return stronger when he finally recovers.
“My focus is getting well and then coming back stronger. This is also a chance for me to rest and regain my full strength so that I can help the team when I return,” he said.

Michira also expressed confidence in his fellow forwards to rise to the occasion in his absence.
We are just going through a tough spell right now but I’m sure Austine Odongo, Ezekiah Omuri, and whoever else the coach trusts in the forward line will deliver. I believe in them,” he concluded.
Michira’s absence has already been felt in the Shabana attack with the club yet to win since his injury (3L 1D) against Tusker but his encouraging words and belief in his teammates could inspire the team to push on as they continue their campaign.
