Former AFC Leopards chairman Dr. Dan Shikanda has confidently stated that AFC Leopards will win the 2025/26 SportPesa League title.
Speaking during the official launch of the Donholm Super Cup, Shikanda believes AFC Leopards has everything required to end their twenty-seven-year wait for league silverware.
“For me, this is the season AFC Leopards will win the league. When we left office, we left a very intact team playing very beautiful football.
I’ve watched the team this season against Posta Rangers and KCB and watched the goals against Shabana at Gusii, and I can confidently say this is the season Ingwe will win the league,” he said.

Shikanda explains why AFC Leopards will win title
Shikanda, who is also the FKF Nairobi Region National Executive Committee Member, highlighted the team’s cohesion as the key factor. He cited recent performances to back his claim.
“If you look at the first eleven, there are only two or three new players, the rest have been here for the last three years.
Leopards will win the league not because we have a good chairman or good coach, but because we have a good team that has played together for long and understands each other,” he observed.
The former Kenya international further urged Ingwe fans to exercise patience and give the technical bench the necessary support to deliver results.

“I’m asking AFC Leopards fans to be patient. Rome wasn’t built in one day. Give the coach and players time to deliver. The unnecessary pressure on the coach and the office should stop,” he noted.
Shikanda also advised the current playing unit to give their all when given the chance.
“To the players, when you enter that field, remember that you are playing for yourself and the club. It’s important to fight for the club because you never know about tomorrow.
Where I am currently as Dan Shikanda is because of the football I played in the 80’s which has opened a lot of doors for me, and I also wish the same for them ten or twenty years to come.”
Shikanda served two terms as AFC Leopards chairman, winning the first election in 2019 before being re-elected in 2022. His tenure ended in June 2025, when Boniface Ambani was elected as the new chairman of Kenya’s oldest club.
