FKF announces vacancies in Kenya U17 technical bench ahead of AFCON CECAFA Qualifiers

The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has declared all positions within the Kenya U17 men’s national team technical bench vacant ahead of the upcoming AFCON CECAFA Zonal Qualifiers, set to take place from November 15th to 30th, 2025, in Tanzania.

In a statement released by the federation, FKF confirmed that a recent technical review conducted by its Football Development Directorate revealed the need to restructure the Junior Stars’ technical setup in line with CAF and FIFA coaching standards.

“Following the technical review conducted by the Football Development Directorate on the current status of the Kenya U17 Men’s National Team (Junior Stars), and in line with the federation’s commitment to uphold CAF and FIFA coaching standards, it has been established that the U17 Men’s National Team Technical Bench is currently vacant,” read part of the statement.

The FKF has emphasized that the recruitment process will strictly follow CAF/FIFA eligibility and licensing requirements, ensuring that only qualified and experienced individuals are considered.

The federation further noted that priority will be given to candidates with proven experience in youth development, as well as those who demonstrate professionalism, integrity and a track record of success in nurturing young talent.

The process of appointing a new technical team is expected to be completed by October 20th, 2025, allowing the new staff adequate time to prepare the squad for the CECAFA Zonal Qualifiers.

The changes are seen as part of FKF’s broader efforts to professionalize youth football structures and ensure that national junior teams meet international standards ahead of major continental competitions.

The following positions are now open for Kenya U17 men’s national team technical bench application

  • Head Coach– must hold a CAF A License
  • Assistant Coach – must hold at least a CAF B License
  • Goalkeeper Trainer – must possess a CAF C License or higher
  • Team Manager
  • Strength and Conditioning Coach
  • Physiotherapist
  • Performance Analyst
  • Safeguarding Officer
