- KCB edged Kariobangi Sharks 0-1 in Matchweek Three of the 2025/26 SportPesa League.
- The clash was held at the Kasarani Annex on Tuesday, September 30.
- Richard Omondi netted the lone goal, sealing KCB’s return to winning ways and prolonging Sharks’ search for their first victory of the season.
Kariobangi Sharks will have to wait a little longer to notch their first victory of the 2025/26 SportPesa League season after falling 0-1 to KCB FC at home on Tuesday afternoon in a tightly contested match staged at the Kasarani Annex.
Sharks came into the fixture having registered back-to-back draws in their opening two matches, and were keen to secure maximum points to stamp their authority early in the campaign.
However, it was Richard Omondi who denied them, scoring in the first half to hand Robert Matano’s side their second victory of the season.

This result returned KCB to winning ways after they suffered a 1-0 defeat to Mathare United in their previous outing.
A cool afternoon in Nairobi saw the match begin with both sides showing equal energy, but the Bankers created the most danger in the Sharks’ area.

In the 16th minute, they had a golden opportunity to make the difference when Mathias Isogoli delivered a cross into the box.
The ball fell to Tedja Wanumbi, but he failed to control it cleanly, allowing the Sharks defense to clear the threat.
Nine minutes later, the Muluya boys unleashed a promising attack from the left wing.
Zablon Kutela drove into the box and delivered a good cross to Markvivan Kesa, who turned his marker only to fire the ball over the bar. This was a close chance, coming after an earlier opportunity that was ruled offside.

After a long search for a goal, the visitors managed to draw first blood in the 36th minute.
A superb cross by December Kisakah from the left wing was met with a volley that fell to their captain, Humphrey Mieno.
Mieno laid it off deftly to Richard Omondi, who used his powerful right foot to slot the ball into the left corner of the net. This breakthrough made KCB the first team to deny Sharks a clean sheet this season.
After conceding, Sharks began to dominate possession and crafted three chances to level the score. One came from a Patila Omoto free kick just meters from the Bankers’ goal, while Razel Omondi also had two opportunities, but sent both efforts over the bar.
The second half failed to produce the same excitement as the first. Whenever Sharks tried to push forward, they were met by a well-organized KCB defense that effectively stifled their attempts to equalize.
KCB also created few clear-cut chances to extend their lead, ultimately settling for a 1-0 victory that secures their second win of the campaign.
