Before this home loss, their Sportpesa League 2025/26 season had also begun poorly. They were held to a goalless draw by Kariobangi Sharks in their opening match at the Kasarani Annex in Nairobi.

The CEO also revealed that the club is now actively searching for an experienced coach, potentially a foreigner, to take over the reins.

Odhiambo was appointed by Bandari in July 2024, taking over from Twahir Muhiddin. During his tenure, the club finished in eighth place last season with 44 points.

He also led the team to the round of 16 in the Football Kenya Federation Cup 2024, where they were eliminated by Gor Mahia in a 0-2 defeat in Mombasa.
