- Gor Mahia clinch first SportPesa League victory after defeating Sofapaka 0-2.
- The match took place at Dandora Stadium on Saturday, 27 September 2025.
- Both goals for Gor Mahia were scored by their new Ghanaian signing, Ebenezer Adukwaw.
Ghanaian international Ebenezer Adukwaw opened his scoring account with Gor Mahia in style, netting a brace to propel the team back to winning ways with their first Sportpesa League victory of the 2025-26 season after a 0-2 win over Sofapaka on Saturday evening at Dandora Stadium.
The 24-year-old Ghanaian is among the new signings acquired by the record Kenyan champions this season as they aim to reclaim the title.
Their campaign had begun on a disappointing note with a 1-0 loss to Bidco United, making this response crucial, and the team managed to deliver.

Sofapaka entered the match following a 1-1 draw with AFC Leopards in their opener. They started with the upper hand, dominating the first ten minutes and camping in Gor Mahia’s half, where they earned close to five corners but failed to capitalize.
Gor’s closest early opportunity came in the 14th minute through Shariff Musa’s runs, but the Sofapaka defense remained resolute.

How did Gor Mahia clinch first SportPesa League victory?
As the half-hour mark passed, Gor were still searching for their rhythm.
They finally broke the deadlock in the 31st minute through Ebenezer Adukwa, who registered his first goal for his new club.
The goal originated from a corner delivered by Enock Morrisson into the box, which caused confusion in the Batoto ba Mungu defense, leaving the ball to find its way into the net.
Gor Mahia won a penalty spot-kick just five minutes later after Japheth Kazungu fouled Austin Odhiambo. Odhiambo stepped up to take it, but his inventive attempt was met by a prepared Victor Kamunga, who made the save to keep Sofapaka in the game as they trailed by a single goal.

Having started the match on the back foot, Gor managed to rally their spirits. The chance they converted in the first half saw them lead at the interval, though it could have been two were it not for Odhiambo’s miss from the spot.
The second half saw Gor pick up where they left off.
By the 52th minute, they had doubled their lead after the new signing, Abenezer, scored his second of the day with a thunderous shot from the center of the pitch that flew straight past a helpless Kamunga.
