Michael Wokorach included in the Legends Cup 2025 squad for Uganda

Former Uganda 7s captain Michael Wokorach has been included in the Uganda Legends squad that will battle against the Kenya Legends for the SportPesa Legends Cup 2025 at the RFUEA Grounds on Saturday 27 September.

The former captain will be hoping to inspire his side to a first-ever win against their Kenyan counterparts after five failed attempts since 2023.

In the squad that will be captained by Alex Mubiru, Uganda will be hoping to overturn a narrow 19-17 deficit from the first leg played at the Kyadondo Grounds in Kampala back in May 2025.

Other players in the travelling party include Tony Khadambi, who was recently appointed head coach at coastal-based South Coast Pirates, Scott Oluoch, Tony Okello, Asuman Mugerwa, Scott Oluoch, Tony Luggya, Robert Aziku, Victor Wadia and Mohammed Athiyo.

SportPesa Legends Cup 2025 programme

The day’s events will kick off from 9am with age-grade rugby, followed by the Stephanie Rose Memorial Cup at 11:00 a.m.

Participating teams in the Stephanie Rose Memorial Cup include Mwamba, Impala, Kenya Harlequin Queens and Northern Suburbs.

The Stephanie Rose Memorial Cup will serve as the curtain-raiser for the SportPesa Legends Cup 2025.

Before the 19-17 victory for Kenya in the first leg, the last showdown between the two sides took place on Saturday, 29 September 2024 at the RFUEA Grounds, where Kenya claimed a 24-15 victory.

Prior to that, the Legends had bested Uganda 26-15 in the first leg, securing a 50-30 aggregate win.

This marked the second consecutive year Kenya Legends lifted the trophy, following a dominant 69-18 cumulative win in 2023.
