The new Kenyan top-flight league, the SportPesa League 2025/26, continues this Sunday, September 21, with a thrilling triple-header of matches across various venues in the country.

Three matches have already been played since the league kicked off on Friday September 19.

KCB started strong with a 2-0 victory over Tusker FC while on Saturday, fans witnessed two closely contested fixtures: Kariobangi Sharks were held to a goalless stalemate by Bandari FC as AFC Leopards, playing at home, settled for a 1-1 draw with Sofapaka.

Today, all eyes will be on Kenya’s record champions, Gor Mahia, as they headline the day’s action.

K’Ogalo begins their quest to reclaim the top-flight crown with a mouthwatering clash against Bidco United at the Kasarani Stadium, kicking off at 4:00 PM EAT.

Shabana vs APS Bomet- Gusii Stadium 2.00 PM

Before the evening’s entertainment, the day’s first action will see Shabana FC host top-tier newcomers APS Bomet from 2:00 PM EAT at the famous Gusii Stadium.

After enjoying their best season last year, finishing in fifth place, Peter Okidi’s squad will be seeking to carry that momentum into this new campaign. The champion of the SportPesa League will win 15 million Kenyan shillings.

To achieve that ultimate goal, they must start the season on the right foot. Their opening match, however, pits them against an unpredictable opponent playing its first-ever Premier League match since earning promotion from the National Super League last season.

Shabana is no stranger to APS Bomet, having faced them three years ago in the NSL before the Gusii outfit earned promotion. APS Bomet completed a double over Shabana back in 2022, so they will likely be confident from that previous advantage.

Yet, the Gusii Stadium was a fortress for Shabana last season, a den where many visitors suffered defeat. The team managed to win 80% of their home matches, a record they will be hoping to continue.

Head coach Peter Okidi says his team is ready for the season with a mission to win matches and compete for the title.

“We have had a good preseason; everything has gone well, and we are prepared. We are going for nothing less than winning our matches. If we manage to surpass last season’s performance, I think the title race will be on our side.”

“The chemistry with the boys is good. The team has settled well with the new players, and we are ready for the league.”

Murang’a SEAL vs Ulinzi Stars- Sportpesa Arena 3.00 pm

One hour after the Shabana clash begins, another mouth-watering fixture will kick off at the SportPesa Arena in Murang’a, where Murang’a SEAL will host Ulinzi Stars.

This match is expected to be a unique spectacle, especially considering the two teams’ trajectories last season: SEAL narrowly survived relegation, while the Soldiers squandered their chances late in the campaign.

Consequently, both sides will be aiming to kick off the new season on a high note, pushing themselves to overcome the problems that plagued them last year.
