Murang'a SEAL
  • Murang’a SEAL will kick off their FKF Premier League 2025/26 campaign against Ulinzi Stars at home, playing at the SportPesa Arena on September 21.
  • SEAL will be aiming to improve on last season’s struggles, where they narrowly escaped relegation on the final matchday.
  • Don Otieno has been appointed as the new head coach following the club’s mutual parting with Yusuf Chippo.

Murang’a SEAL will commence their third consecutive campaign in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League on September 21, hosting Ulinzi Stars at the Sportpesa Arena.

The club is determined to start the season strongly after narrowly escaping relegation last term.

In their final match of the 2024/25 season, SEAL secured a crucial 1-0 victory over Talanta FC which lifted them to 13th place on the table with 37 points.

Their survival was largely credited to their former head coach Yusuf Chippo who guided the team through a late resurgence.

However, despite that notable turnaround, Chippo will not lead the team into the new season as both parties mutually agreed to part ways.

SEAL will be looking to begin the campaign on a high note and build on their dominance over Ulinzi Stars, a side they also defeated in the opening match of last season. They will then travel to face newly-promoted APS Bomet on September 28.

Mathare United

Their third match will take them to Mombasa to clash with Bandari FC on the first weekend of October. They will then return home to host Sofapaka two weeks later, followed by a showdown against Tusker FC at home on October 19.

Despite last season’s promising opening win against Ulinzi, SEAL only managed two points from their next four fixtures (two losses and two draws). This year, they’ll aim to improve on that shaky early run

Murang’a SEAL key first-leg fixtures: Leopards, Gor Mahia, and Shabana

The first leg against AFC Leopards is scheduled for November 8, 2025, an away fixture for SEAL.

This is followed by a home match on November 23 against their fellow Sportpesa-sponsored side, Shabana FC.

Having failed to take a point from Shabana last season, SEAL will be eager for redemption in this fixture.

Meanwhile, the much-anticipated clash with Gor Mahia is set for December 7 (matchweek 12).

The two sides met three times last season; Gor emerged victorious twice, including an FKF Cup semi-final win on penalties.

In the league, Gor took four points from SEAL (a win and a draw), providing further motivation for vengeance.

Their 2025 schedule concludes with an away fixture against Mara Sugar.

Technical Bench Transition

Following his short but impactful stint, Chippo, the former Harambee Stars assistant coach helped the club retain their top-flight status and guided them to a third-place finish in the FKF Cup.

Despite these achievements, the club chose not to renew his contract, opting for a fresh start.

Don Otieno has since been appointed as the new head coach.

The club expressed confidence in his ability to lead the side.

To bolster the technical bench, SEAL also welcomed former Kenya international Dennis Odhiambo whose experience is expected to add significant value to the squad’s preparations.
