The unbeaten quartet; KCB, Strathmore Leos, Menengai Oilers and MMUST, each topped their respective pools, setting up some thrilling encounters.

As resut, KCB is set to clash with Kabras Sugar in what will be their third Cup meeting this season in a main cup contention.

MMUST face off with Nakuru RFC, while Strathmore Leos, who narrowly missed out on the Christie final, will aim for redemption against fellow university outfit, Daystar Falcons.

In another high-stakes battle, Menengai Oilers take on Kenya Harlequins. Quins, the overall defending champions who are yet to hit top gear this season and will be pushing hard to get back into title contention.

Embu 7s group stage recap

Pool A

Both Daystar Falcons and KCB had already secured their Cup quarterfinal berths before their final match, each having won their two opening fixtures.

KCB extended their impressive run with decisive victories over Mwamba and Embu RFC (29-14 and 24-0, respectively), while the Falcons dispatched hosts Embu 24-0 and edged Mwamba 17-14.

However, KCB cemented their top spot with a dominant 33-0 win over the Falcons, completing a perfect group stage.

Their last defeat dates back to the Prinsloo 7s final against Strathmore Leos, and their current unbeaten streak now stands at eight matches.

Elsewhere in the pool, Mwamba RFC narrowly avoided an upset, overcoming a scare from hosts Embu to win 17-10.

The hosts finished without a victory, while Mwamba exited the main cup with a consolation win.

Embu 7s quarterfinals

Pool B

Kabras Sugar engineered a dramatic comeback to qualify for the quarterfinals.

After a first-round 15-14 loss, they rallied to beat Impala 36-12 and secured their second win by defeating Kabete Stallions.

Following their quarterfinal exit at the Christie 7s, the Max Adaka-led side orchestrated this turnaround thanks to brace tries from Eric Cantona, and further scores from Osimbo Mathews and William Muhanji, all converted by Roy Muruti and Brian Tanga, culminating in a 26-0 victory.

They are joined by Strathmore Leos, who finished atop of the group undefeated.

After being eliminated in the semifinals of the prior leg, they are fully focused on reaching the final again. Impala and Kabete finished at the bottom of the group.

Pool C

Group C offered arguably the most competitive action, with Oilers, Nakuru, and Nondies all in contention heading into the final round.

Nakuru RFC crushed Mean Machine 41-7, the day’s highest score with standout performances from Felix Okoth, Bonaventure Otieno, Edwin Anunda, James Macharia, and Habbakhuk Ouma.

Nondies, eliminated in the earlier legs, once again fell short after a 24-0 defeat to Oilers, who topped the group unscathed.

Oilers look poised for another deep run, chasing their second straight final appearance. Mean Machine, returning to the series, finished winless.

Pool D

MMUST dominated their group, bagging three wins including a comeback triumph over Zetech Oaks (19-7) after trailing early.

The university side remains unbeaten heading into the knockout stage.

Zetech Oaks, much like in Christie 7s, narrowly missed out on a quarterfinal berth, finishing third.

Kenya Harlequins, meanwhile, managed a consolatory 17-12 victory over Catholic Monks to sneak into the next round.
