Celebrated artist Iyanii set to light up Kenya vs Seychelles clash at Kasarani Stadium
  • The Kenya vs Madagascar tickets went live on Tuesday, August 19 at noon, but the system crashed within ten minutes.
  • CHAN 2024 ticketing service provider Mookh has addressed the countrywide concerns, stating that sales were affected due to infiltration by automated bots.
  • The quarterfinal clash is scheduled for Friday, August 22 at Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, starting at 5:00 PM EAT.

The official ticketing partner for the African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024, Mookh, has issued a statement regarding the difficulties fans have faced while attempting to purchase tickets for the upcoming quarterfinal clash between Kenya and Madagascar on Friday.

In a press release issued on Tuesday, August 19, Mookh clarified that the ticketing platform was overwhelmed moments after going live at noon.

According to Mookh, the surge was primarily caused by automated bots, which led to the website crashing and made it nearly impossible for genuine fans to complete their purchases.

Mookh addresses concerns for Kenya vs Madagascar tickets

We know how important it is for you to have a fair chance at getting tickets, and we’ve heard your frustration loud and clear,” the statement read.

When sales opened at 12pm, our system was overwhelmed by automated bots, preventing genuine fans from securing tickets as intended. Our team is actively working to stop this so that tickets go to fans — not bots.”

The tickets were released on Tuesday at noon, but within just ten minutes, the system crashed due to the immense volume of Kenyan fans attempting to access the platform for the quarterfinal match, which Kenya will host at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, from 5:00 PM EAT.

“Thank you for your patience and for standing by us. Tickets will be back on sale very soon!” Mookh added.

Kenya’s unprecedented support tested by limited ticket supply

Despite Mookh and the Confederation of African Football (CAF) not disclosing the number of available slots, Kenyan supporters have been attending in droves.

During the group stage, they created an electric atmosphere; the opening match against DR Congo saw over 44,000 fans pack the Kasarani Stadium, with tickets selling out rapidly.

This trend continued in Kenya’s second match against Angola, where all tickets were purchased within hours for an announced attendance of 46,052.

The third match was equally unsurprising, as tickets for the game against Morocco were snapped up within minutes, with over 70,000 spectators filling the stadium.

However, due to overcrowding concerns and safety breaches, CAF imposed a fine and mandated a reduction in crowd capacity.

For Kenya’s fourth fixture against Zambia, attendance was capped at 27,000, just over half of the stadium’s 48,000-seat capacity.

Those tickets, released at midnight, were completely sold out by morning.

As frustration among fans intensifies, Mookh has assured the public that measures are being implemented to streamline the ticketing process with just two days to Kenya vs Madagascar clash on Friday.

Unlike Kenya, the other two co-host nations, Uganda and Tanzania, have reportedly experienced seamless ticket distribution with minimal issues.
