The announcement was made on Tuesday, August 5 by Auka Gecheo, the Executive Director of CECAFA, who confirmed both the tournament dates and the participating teams.

“We are happy to announce that the tournament will take place September 2-15th in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. We expect to have a more competitive tournament as most of the teams will use it to prepare ahead of the 2025/2026 CAF competitions,” said Gecheo.

Kenya Police FC will face stiff competition from top-tier clubs such as Vipers SC (Uganda), the reigning Ugandan champions, as well as Sudanese powerhouses El Merriekh SC Bentiu and Al Hilal.

Kenya Police FC to use CECAFA Kagame Cup as launchpad for CAF Champions League

This will be a prime opportunity for the law enforcers to refine their tactics and strengthen their squad ahead of their historic CAF Champions League debut.

The tournament also presents a platform to rebuild and reinforce their team following the recent departure of several key players.

Last season, Kenya Police featured in the CAF Confederation Cup where they were eliminated in the second preliminary round by Egyptian giants Zamalek SC.

That edition also featured record Kenyan champions Gor Mahia, who had a disappointing campaign losing 2-0 to Al Hilal, drawing 1-1 with Ali Sabieh, and suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat to Red Arrows in the group stage.
