Why Heung-min has decided to end his stint with Tottenham
According to Heung-min, the decision to part ways with the North London based club was not an easy decision to make.
“Before we start the press conference, I wanted to say I have decided to leave the club this summer. Respectfully the club is helping me with the decision. It was the most difficult decision I have made in my career. Such amazing memories. It was so hard to make the decision.
I need a new environment to push myself. I need a little bit of change – 10 years is a long time. I came to north London as a kid, 23 years old, such a young age. I leave this club as a grown man, a very proud man,” he was quoted by the Tottenham Hotspur website.

Heung-min thanks Spurs supporters for the affection
The South Korean international ended by appreciating the support given to him by Tottenham fans.
Heung-min, who captained the Lilywhites to Europa League triumph last season, also requested them to respect the tough decision that he made.
“I want to say thank you to all the Spurs fans for giving me so much love. I hope the goodbye is also good timing and this is the right time to make the decision.
I hope everyone can accept that and respect that,” explained the experienced player.
Tottenham manager Thomas Frank lauds Heung-min
On his part, Tottenham head coach Thomas Frank described Heung-min as a generational talent, who he would have liked to have in his team.
“For me personally, I would have loved to have worked with this fantastic person and player. He is a true Spurs legend in every aspect, one of the greatest players to play in the Premier League.
It is never easy to find the perfect timing and me coming in from the side, it makes it a bit easier to end on a high,” stated Frank.

Heung-min leaves Tottenham with his shoulders held high, having scored a total of 173 goals for the club since joining in 2015.
While at Spurs, Heung-min also won the Premier League Golden Boot award in the 2021/2022 season where he netted 23 goals.
