  • The SportPesa 7s will take place across five towns from July to September.
  • The deal will see SportPesa assuming the title rights for the circuit for the third year in a row.

Leading online gaming firm SportPesa on Wednesday announced a 15 million title sponsorship package for the 2025 National Sevens Circuit that will run across five towns over three months.

Following a largely successful outing in 2023 and 2024, the deal will see SportPesa assuming the title rights for the circuit that will be officially referred to as the SportPesa 7s for a third year running.

With six tournaments set to take place, here is the financial breakdown of how the 15 million will be utilized.

Breaking down 2025 SportPesa 7s sponsorship package

Kenya Rugby Union – The country’s rugby governing body will receive 3 million from the total sponsorship to help with operational costs of the entire tournament.

Host clubs – Each of the six different hosts will receive 500,000 shillings to cater for the organization of their respective tournaments, leading to a total of 3 million.

Livestream – 6 million of the sponsorship will go towards helping in the tournament’s coverage.

Prize money – A total of 2.3 million will go back to teams that emerge as winners in the different tournaments and the overall circuit as well.

Merchandise – 700,000 will go towards procurement of merchandise.

What each team will get per leg (Applies to all the six legs for men)

Men (Division 1)

Winners – 100,000

2nd place – 50,000

3rd place – 25,000

Men (Division 2)

Winners – 50,000

Women (4 legs that will have women’s tournaments)

Winners – 70,000

Runner up – 30,000

Overall Prize Money

Overall winners – 300,000

2nd place – 150,000

3rd place – 100,000

Kicking off the 2025 SportPesa 7s is the Driftwood 7s scheduled for 26/27 July at the Mombasa Sports Club in Mombasa.

Driftwood 7s will lay ground for the Prinsloo 7s set for the 2/3 of August in Nakuru.

The third leg will bring the action to Nairobi for the first time which takes centre-stage on 16/17 August with the Christie 7s before the action heads down to Embu 7s which won the bidding leg in 2025.

The penultimate leg will return to Nairobi for the Kabeberi 7s scheduled to take place on 6/7 September.

The second last leg will then usher in Kisumu’s Dala 7s 13/14 September, the sixth and final leg of the SportPesa National 7s Circuit 2025.
