- Shadrack Maluki was elected the new NOC-K President after beating his only rival Francis Mutuku.
- Maluki will replace the outgoing NOC-K President Paul Tergat, who served the country since 2017.
- Besides Maluki, the other winners in the NOC-K elections were Barnabas Korir and Nashon Randiek, who were elected as the first and second deputy presidents of the body in that order.
A new chapter for the National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOC-K) started on Monday morning, July 21, 2025 with the election of Shadrack Maluki as the President.
Maluki collected 15 votes to defeat the outgoing NOC-K Secretary General, Francis Mutuku, who received 12 votes, in the elections held in Nairobi.
He had promised during his election campaigns that he will make sure NOC-K serves all the stakeholders once elected.

“The time has come to return the Olympic dream to the athletes, the federations, and the people of Kenya.
We must build a system that not only supports our elite athletes but also nurtures talent from the grassroots,” he explained in a recent interview.
His campaign messages focused on numerous issues particularly accountability, effective communication, inclusivity and transparency.
Shadrack Maluki replaces Tergat
Maluki will take over from the legendary Kenyan runner Paul Tergat who has served as NOC-K President for eight years since 2017.
Elsewhere, Athletics Kenya (AK) director of youth development Barnabas Korir and the Kenya Hockey Union (KHU) chairperson Nashon Randiek have been elected as NOC-K first and second deputy Presidents respectively.

Korir, who is credited with guiding many Kenyan young athletes, amassed 15 votes out of the possible 27 to beat his opponent Anthony Ombok.
Ombok, who is currently in charge of the country’s boxing federation, garnered 12 votes.
On the other hand, Randiek registered 14 votes to overcome Eliud Kariuki, the outgoing NOC-K treasure, by a single vote.
