The tournament is set to be co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania from Friday, August 2 to Saturday, August 30.

Having undergone extensive renovations since 2023, the iconic stadium is among the key venues Kenya will utilize alongside Nyayo National Stadium as it co-hosts the tournament with Uganda and Tanzania.

Now nearing completion, the facelift touches every corner of the 60,000-seater stadium, ensuring it meets the highest standards set by CAF and FIFA.”
According to Omollo, the installation of the stadium’s canopy is 99% complete, while the VIP and VVIP areas have undergone extensive modernization.
A major highlight is the near-complete canopy, 99% done, which will provide vital shelter and enhance the experience for both fans and players, regardless of weather conditions,” he added.
The VIP and VVIP sections have received a significant overhaul, featuring upgraded seating with foldable, cushioned designs and added comforts such as cup holders and increased legroom, creating a premium viewing environment that rivals top-tier stadiums globally.
Meanwhile, the pitch and drainage infrastructure have been entirely overhauled to ensure optimal playing conditions.
A new artificial turf has been laid, offering a consistent and high-quality surface that aligns with the CAF F specifications.
Additional renovations include modernized dressing rooms and auxiliary facilities, all tailored to CAF and FIFA standards while Athletes will now enjoy state-of-the-art, fully equipped spaces designed to foster peak performance and professionalism.
Upgrades extend to spectator engagement as well. Two LED stadium screens have been installed, promising an enhanced visual experience.
A cutting-edge sound system is also being implemented to improve in-stadium communication and and entertainment.

According to PS Omollo, the stadium is in the concluding phase of its transformation. Walling works are ongoing, and all critical amenities have been finalized in line with CAF’s standards.
Player changing rooms are fully functional, alongside essential support facilities including referees’ quarters, a dedicated room for ball boys, an infirmary, anti-doping control center, massage and recovery suites, and briefing rooms for match officials.
The Media Tribune has been upgraded to accommodate 86 journalists, complemented by advanced Voice-over-Control (VoC) rooms equipped with CCTV systems to ensure top-tier security and coordination.

The newly inaugurated presidential suite and an exclusive second-floor VIP lounge now provide a refined match-day experience for dignitaries and distinguished guests.
Nyayo Stadium is also set to house CAF’s tournament headquarters, with fully furnished and operational office spaces highlighting Kenya’s growing capacity to stage premier continental and global sporting events.
With a revamped seating capacity of 18,000, divided among regular, VIP, VVIP, and presidential tiers, the venue promises a dynamic and world-class atmosphere.
The playing surface is in immaculate condition, while enhanced floodlights rated at 3,000 lux ensure crystal-clear visibility for night fixtures.

The 2024 CHAN tournament will run from Saturday, August 2 to Saturday, August 30.
Kenya, placed in Group A alongside Morocco, Angola, DR Congo, and Zambia, will launch their campaign against DR Congo on Sunday, August 3, 2025.
