- The FKF Premier League 2024/25 season nears its climax, with title hopefuls Gor Mahia facing a crucial clash against Ulinzi Stars.
- Despite initially downplaying their title ambitions, coach Zico has since rekindled hope, emphasizing that his side remains focused and energized heading into the final two matches.
- All nine matches are scheduled to kick off simultaneously at 3:00 PM across various venues in the country.
The 24/25 Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League season is fast approaching its conclusion, with the penultimate round of fixtures scheduled for Sunday, June 15.
All nine matches are set to kick off simultaneously at 3:00 PM across various venues in the country.
Among the most anticipated showdowns is the fixture between reigning champions and title hopefuls Gor Mahia, who will travel to face Ulinzi Stars at the Ulinzi Sports Complex.
Although Gor Mahia’s head coach, Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno, previously admitted that their title defense appeared bleak, the club still has a mathematical chance to reclaim the crown.
For K’Ogalo to stay in the race, they must overcome Ulinzi Stars and hope Kenya Police, who require only a single point to secure the title, falter against Shabana FC at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.

With Gor Mahia currently sitting second on the table with 55 points, a win would lift them to 58, just three points behind the leaders.
Crucially, the final round of the season will see Gor Mahia take on Kenya Police in what could become a title-deciding clash.
However, a draw against Ulinzi would leave Gor at 56 points which is potentially five behind Police, meaning even a loss for Police on Sunday would still leave them in a commanding position.
K’Ogalo cannot afford to drop points, especially after a rough patch in form.
They are desperate to return to winning ways following a 1-2 loss to Nairobi City Stars and back-to-back stalemates against Murang’a SEAL and AFC Leopards. The pressure is on to reignite their campaign.

Meanwhile, Ulinzi Stars are also fighting for their lives, but at the opposite end of the table.
The side, managed by Dunstan Nyaudo, currently occupies 11th place with 37 points.
Though seemingly mid-table, their position is not that safe, sitting just four points above the relegation playoff spot held by Murang’a SEAL (33 points) and five ahead of second-bottom Bidco United (32 points).
A victory against Gor would be vital in securing Ulinzi’s top-flight status, especially with their final match against Shabana looming.
Their safety could also hinge on results elsewhere, particularly as teams around them who are also staged in the relegation scrap, face off in direct encounters. Fortunately for Ulinzi, they avoid any relegation six-pointers themselves.
Zico rekindles Gor Mahia’s title hopes
Despite downplaying title ambitions earlier, coach Zico has since rekindled hope, stressing that his side remains focused and energized heading into the final two matches.
The boys are rejuvenated, and everyone is working towards the mission of winning as many matches as possible. We are staying focused as a group. We do not know what can happen in football because anything is possible. We saw Saudi Arabia beating Argentina in the World Cup.
So in football, nothing is permanent. As of now, we are still in contention, although it might look very slim. But, as I have said, in football, anything is possible. That slim chance can be turned into a very big advantage.”
In the reverse fixture earlier this season, Gor Mahia cruised to a 3-0 victory over Ulinzi Stars, with Austin Odhiambo, Samuel Kapen, and Rooney Onyango finding the back of the net.
