FKF Cup 2024/25
  • Kibera Soccer Women defeated Kenya Police Bullets 2-0 in the semifinals to secure a spot in the 2024/25 FKF Women’s Cup final.
  • They will face Vihiga Queens, who edged Bungoma Queens in the other semifinal.
  • Kibera, runners-up in 2024, are eager to claim the title, while Vihiga seek redemption after their 2021 final loss.

Kenya Police Bullets’ dreams of securing a domestic double this season were abruptly shattered after being eliminated from the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Women’s Cup by a spirited Kibera Soccer Women who won 2-0 in the semifinal clash staged at Dandora Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Having recently retained their top-flight league title just two weeks ago, Beldine Odemba’s charges entered the fixture brimming with confidence and high expectations.

However, they encountered a resolute and tactically disciplined Kibera outfit.

Munika Maximila drew first blood for Kibera with a composed finish, before Faith Mboya sealed the victory from the penalty spot, propelling the Nairobi-based side into their second FKF Cup final appearance.

Despite Kenya Police Bullets creating several opportunities to stage a comeback, David Vijago’s well-drilled team stood firm in defense, holding on to their lead and keeping their cup hopes alive.

Speaking after the match, an elated Vijago expressed immense pride in his team’s performance.

He admitted, however, that the league had been their primary objective for the season a goal they narrowly missed.

“Our main focus had been winning the league, but I can assure you we’re determined to lift the Cup. You can expect a strong performance from us in the final,” said Vijago.

Kibera will now face Vihiga Queens in the final, after the former champions secured their spot with a 2-1 victory over Bungoma Queens.

Goals from Diana Cherono Sigei and Noel Amutata ensured their progression, while Carol Khaemba netted the lone consolation for Bungoma.

This year marks the fourth edition of the FKF Women’s Cup since its inception in 2021.

A new champion is guaranteed as reigning champions Ulinzi Starlets, winners of the past three tournaments (2021/22, 2022/23, and 2023/24), were knocked out in the quarterfinals by Kibera in a tense penalty shootout.

Having narrowly missed the title in 2024 after a 2-1 defeat to Ulinzi, Kibera is now determined to seize their moment. Meanwhile, Vihiga Queens who fell 2-0 to Ulinzi in the 2021 final are equally hungry for redemption.
