- CAF and the Morocco LOC have announced the match venues for the much-anticipated CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON 2024), scheduled to take place from 5 to 26 July, 2025.
- Six stadiums will be used for the competition—marking the first time more than three venues will host matches in the tournament’s history.
- This edition will feature 12 teams in the finals for the first time, highlighting the tournament’s continued growth and expansion.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF), in collaboration with the Moroccan Local Organizing Committee, has officially announced the stadiums set to host the CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), Morocco 2024, scheduled from 5 to 26 July, 2025.
Marking a historic milestone, this edition will feature 12 teams in the finals for the first time, alongside an unprecedented six host stadiums, doubling the number of venues used in previous tournaments.
Morocco returns as host for a second consecutive tournament, having staged the highly acclaimed 2022 edition of the CAF WAFCON, which set numerous records and elevated the profile of the women’s game across the continent.
The six selected venues
- Olympic Stadium (Rabat)
- Larbi Zaouli Stadium (Casablanca)
- Père Jégo Stadium (Casablanca)
- El Bachir Stadium (Mohammédia)
- Honor Stadium (Oujda)
- Berkane Stadium (Berkane)
The newly built Olympic Stadium in Rabat, accommodating 21,000 spectators, is a cutting-edge facility located near the historic Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium.
It is set to play a dual role, also serving as a venue for the upcoming CAF Africa Cup of Nations, Morocco 2025, kicking off in December.

Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca currently serves as a temporary home for Raja and Wydad Casablanca, while the iconic Mohammed V Stadium undergoes major renovations in preparation for AFCON 2025.
Larbi Zaouli itself underwent refurbishment in 2019 and has since hosted fixtures in the TotalEnergies CAF Under-17 Africa Cup of Nations.
Pere Jego Stadium, also in Casablanca, is a 10,000-seat arena named after the legendary Moroccan coach Pere Jego, revered as one of the most influential tacticians in the nation’s footballing history.
He managed both Raja and Wydad Casablanca, as well as the Moroccan national team.
El Bachir Stadium in Mohammedia, originally constructed in 1954 and renovated in 2019, serves as the home ground for SCC Mohammédia.
It also hosted key matches, including the final, of the recent CAF Under-17 Africa Cup of Nations.
With a capacity of 35,000, Honor Stadium in Oujda has recently hosted numerous international fixtures either featuring Morocco or serving as a neutral ground for other national teams completing their qualifying matches.
Lastly, Berkane Stadium, home to RS Berkane, seats 12,000 fans and underwent modernization in 2017. It has staged both international encounters and CAF Interclub competition matches.

WAFCON 2024 format and group draw
The 12 qualified nations have been split into three competitive groups, with each of the six stadiums set to witness exhilarating encounters throughout the group stage and beyond.
- Group A: Morocco, Zambia, Senegal, DR Congo
- Group B: Nigeria, Tunisia, Algeria, Botswana
- Group C: South Africa, Ghana, Mali, Tanzania
Hosts Morocco will open their campaign in Group A alongside formidable opponents including Zambia, Senegal, and DR Congo.
Defending champions South Africa are pitted in Group C against Ghana, Mali, and East Africa’s representative Tanzania.
Eleven-time champions Nigeria headline Group B, where they will face Botswana, Tunisia, and Algeria.

What’s at stake: Prize money and prestige
CAF has significantly increased the prize pool for WAFCON 2024 to underscore its commitment to the women’s game.
The winners will walk away with $600,000 (approx. 77.8 million KSH), runners-up will earn $400,000 (approx. 51.6 million KSH), and third-place finishers will receive $350,000 (approx. 45.3 million KSH).
Even the teams finishing at the bottom of their respective groups will receive financial compensation for participation, marking an inclusive and rewarding framework.
