Tusker vs Nairobi City Stars

Tusker FC ascended to the top of the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) 24/25 Premier League table following a hard-fought 1-0 triumph over Nairobi City Stars at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos on Sunday, April 20, 2025.

The Brewers were in dire need of maximum points, and a solo goal by Dennis Wanjala in the first half was enough to propel them to the summit with 51 points.

They capitalized on Kenya Police’s slip-up who failed to extend their lead following a 1-0 defeat to Ulinzi Stars on Friday.

Although Gor Mahia managed a draw against Sofapaka on Saturday, they missed the chance to narrow the gap, and now trail Tusker by four points.

For Salim Babu’s side, the struggles intensified as they remain rooted at the foot of the table with a mere 24 points, with relegation looming ever larger

Despite putting up a commendable fight maintaining defensive composure and mounting several counter-attacks luck was not on their side.

The situation worsened in the 54th minute when Wilcliff Omondi was sent off after receiving a second yellow card for a rough challenge on Chrispine Erambo.

With seven matches remaining, Salim Babu and his technical bench face a crucial task: to rally the team and fight for survival in the top flight next season.

Clinton Asiago and Simon Abuko found the net, lifting Bidco to 15th place with 27 points—three clear of bottom-dwellers Nairobi City Stars.

John Kamau’s Mathare side, on the other hand, slid to 10th position on the log after suffering their tenth loss of the campaign, leaving them stuck on 33 points.

Elsewhere, at the SportPesa Arena, Murang’a SEAL and Kariobangi Sharks played out a goalless stalemate. SEAL currently sit 17th with 26 points two ahead of City Stars, while the Sharks occupy 11th spot with 32 points.
