Leading online gaming firm SportPesa rewarded the Kenya 7s with a generous bonus of Ksh 1,350,000 following their outstanding performance in the sixth round of the HSBC SVNS series in Singapore, where they secured second place two weeks ago.

The incentive was presented by Honorable Captain Ronald Karauri, SportPesa’s Chief Executive Officer, alongside KRU chairman Sasha Mutai, on Wednesday, April 16, 2025.

Each player is set to receive KSh 75,000 as part of the distribution.

Earlier this year, in January, SportPesa unveiled a revamped bonus structure for Kenya’s national rugby sevens team, with a total pool of 9 million shillings up for grabs.

Under this framework, members of the 18-man squad stood to earn:

  • KES 100,000 for a cup victory.
  • KES 75,000 for a runner-up finish.
  • KES 50,000 for third place.
  • KES 32,000 for fourth place.
  • KES 20,000 for fifth place.
  • KES 15,000 for sixth place.

This sponsorship bonus underscores SportPesa’s steadfast dedication to nurturing Kenya’s sporting talent and providing sustained support following the team’s remarkable achievement in Singapore.
