The Kenya U20 men’s football team, the Rising Stars, has been drawn into Group B for their maiden appearance at the upcoming 2025 U20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), scheduled to take place in Egypt from 27 April to 18 May 2025.
The revised draw for the continental tournament was conducted on Sunday evening, April 13, 2025, in Cairo, Egypt, following the withdrawal of the initially designated host country, Côte d’Ivoire, due to unforeseen circumstances.

Kenya, who were originally drawn in Group C alongside Senegal, Zambia, and Sierra Leone, have now been reassigned to another challenging group, where they will face off against seven-time champions Nigeria, the one-time titleholders Tunisia, and Morocco another formidable contender in the tournament.
Meanwhile, hosts Egypt, who are automatically seeded in Group A, will square off against the 2017 champions Zambia, alongside Sierra Leone, South Africa, and fellow East African contenders Tanzania in what promises to be a fiercely contested group.
Reigning titleholders Senegal commence their championship defence in Group C, which also features the Central African Republic, DR Congo, and Ghana — the latter striving to recapture the trophy they last claimed in 2009, the same year they made history as the only African side to win the FIFA U-20 World Cup.

The top two nations from each group, along with the two highest-ranked third-placed teams, will advance to the quarter-finals, with the tournament wrapping up on 18 May 2025.
Beyond the pursuit of continental glory, the stakes are immense the four semi-finalists will secure their spots to represent Africa at the FIFA U-20 World Cup, Chile 2025.
