Defending champions AL Ahly are still in the CAF Champions League quarter-finals

The eight remaining clubs who advanced from the group stages are set to battle it out in the much-anticipated quarter finals of the 24/25 TotalEnergies CAF Champions League

Africa’s most prestigious club competition enters the unpredictable knockout stage from Tuesday 1 April, as the continent’s best clubs prepare for what promises to be an explosive set of fixtures in pursuit of the sought-after crown.

Following the draw that was conducted last month, the first leg of the quarter-finals will take place on 1 April with the return leg scheduled exactly a week later on Tuesday, 8 April and Wednesday, 9 April.

Al Hilal (Sudan), AS FAR (Morocco), Espérance Sportive de Tunis (Tunisia), Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates (both South Africa), MC Alger (Algeria), defending champions Al Ahly FC and Pyramids FC (both Egypt) are the clubs that remain in contention for this season’s title.

Of the eight remaining teams, six have lifted the title before, with Al Ahly eyeing a record-extending 13th crown.

Tunisian champions Espérance have lifted the continental title four times  (1994, 2011, 2018, 2019) while AS FAR (1985), Mamelodi Sundowns (2016), MC Alger (1976) and Orlando Pirates (1995) each have a single title to their name.

Al Hilal have been the surprise package of the competition alongside knockout stage debutants, Pyramids FC who will look to emulate their Egyptian counterparts’ success on the continent.

  • 22h00 EAT: Pyramids FC (EGY) vs AS FAR (MAR)
