Shabana FC will look to return to winning ways after a frustrating four-match winless streak when they host Kakamega Homeboyz on Sunday, March 2, 2025, at the Gusii Stadium in Kisii County for the FKFPL Week 23.
Despite taking the lead in their midweek clash against Tusker, Shabana were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw. New signing Keith Imbali was the first to break the deadlock, but Eric Balecho equalized in the 90th minute.
Shabana, who have earned four points from Tusker this season, secured their most recent victory on January 26, narrowly defeating Sofapaka 1-0 away from home.
That win was followed by a goalless draw with Kariobangi Sharks, a 2-1 defeat to Posta Rangers, and a 0-0 stalemate against Mathare United.

An eighth victory for Peter Okidi’s side would see them climb several spots in the standings, potentially reaching seventh place with 33 points, which would be level with Kakamega Homeboyz, though the latter have a superior goal difference.
Their positioning will also depend on how Bandari perform against Tusker FC.
With Tore Bobe’s side aiming to match Homeboyz’s points, it will not be an easy task. Homeboyz will be looking to build on their impressive 3-1 win over Murang’a SEAL in midweek, extending their unbeaten run to 12 matches.
Their last loss was a 2-0 defeat to Gor Mahia in November last year.

As the more formidable team heading into the match, Francis Baraza’s side is determined to secure all three points.
A win could propel them to fourth place with 36 points, provided they score at least three goals, which would give them a superior goal difference over KCB, who are ahead after their 2-1 defeat to Posta Rangers on Saturday.
Shabana head coach Peter Okidi admitted frustration with their recent form but expressed confidence they can secure a win against Homeboyz at home.
“To be honest, we are frustrated with these recent results and we are heading into this match wounded. It’s a game we lost in the first leg, so we need maximum points on Sunday along with a clean sheet.
We will sit down with the players and the technical team and I believe our next three points will come at home,” Okidi explained following their 1-1 draw with Tusker on Wednesday.
In the first leg, Kakamega Homeboyz triumphed 2-0. Moses Shumah opened the scoring and Glen Masava doubled the lead, securing the win despite being reduced to 10 men after Gospel Otieno was sent off.
