Speaking during his colourful unveiling ceremony that started from Githurai to his workstation in Kirinyaga Road for the better part of Thursday, a delighted Mwangi recounted how he got the perfect Valentine’s gift with the SportPesa Midweek jackpot win.
“On that Friday, I was with a friend called Mogaka and we were just about to mount a cylinder head in the garage. But before that, I told him we should try our luck in the Midweek Jackpot. I took my phone and, without analyzing, made random selections on the Midweek Jackpot.
On Saturday, I happened to be in Nakuru for a friend’s function and when I was showering, I got a text message informing me that the Midweek Jackpot had been won.
Shortly after, another ‘CONGRATULATIONS’ text followed. Then came a call from SportPesa informing me I was the winner. At first, I could not believe it at all. I thought it was a scam, but I started believing when I checked the number online and confirmed it was the official number from SportPesa.
My blood pressure took the hit and I even had to rush to the hospital just out of the extreme joy that the news came with,” Mwangi narrated.

Before his win, Mwangi supported some needy children from his friends aside from his own immediate family and extended family, something he revealed he will continue doing as part of his plans courtesy of the Midweek Jackpot victory.
“There are some intelligent children in this world but their parents cannot afford school fees. For example, there is my aunt’s child who did well in school but did not have money to enroll in a university.
I want to help two or three of such cases to study because they can help the country by going on to become doctors. That is my first priority and I have already given my aunt’s child the go ahead to enroll in a university.
Additionally, I would love to have recognized garages in Kenya and to build my plots. My kids also have to study using that money,” Mwangi revealed.
