Kariobangi Sharks striker Ally Salum remains confident of becoming the top scorer in the 24/25 Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) season after making his comeback from an injury that sidelined him for six weeks.
Salum had suffered a medial collateral ligament (MCL) strain Grade 2 in early November last year.
Before the injury, the Tanzanian international had netted four goals in the early fixtures, helping Sharks soar to the top four positions in the league standings.
However, following a series of injuries that also affected players like Keith Imbali (now with Shabana) and Biron Otieno, the team’s performance began to falter, and they are now sitting in 13th place with 22 points.
After making his return on Sunday, coming off the bench in the 0-0 draw against AFC Leopards, Salum expressed his determination to bounce back stronger.

He reiterated that his dream of finishing as the league’s top scorer remains intact, and he is committed to working towards that goal.
“It’s true the injury has been a setback but I have not given up. I believe there is still room to improve. There are many matches left and my target is still the same — to be the top scorer.
I’m gradually regaining my strength and I expect to perform better in the next match,” Salum explained to SportPesa Blog after the game.
Regarding his team’s performance, Salum acknowledged the unpredictable nature of football.
“It’s normal in football to have ups and downs. Sometimes you’re performing well, other times you’re not. It’s up to the coach to pinpoint the issues, and I believe we will bounce back in the upcoming matches,” he added.

He also reiterated that he is returning to form where he left off before the injury. “I’m picking up from where I left off,” he concluded.
On his part, head coach William Muluya expressed his satisfaction with Salum’s return, calling it a significant boost for the club.
“Ally Salum managed to play 45 minutes today. I’m happy to see him back in action, and I’m hopeful that in the upcoming matches, we will have a full squad,” Muluya said.
Sharks will host Posta Rangers on Friday, aiming to end their eight-match winless streak.
