Kariobangi Sharks head coach William Muluya has emphasized that securing a point against AFC Leopards was not a setback but rather an advantage for the team despite the club enduring eight consecutive matches without a win.
Sharks held AFC Leopards to a 0-0 draw in an intense away match at the Dandora Stadium on Sunday evening, where both teams created opportunities but were unable to capitalize on them.
Muluya’s side, who had more clear-cut chances to secure a win, now sit 13th in the standings with 22 points.
Meanwhile, Fred Ambani’s Ingwe will surely regret missed opportunities from Ovella Ochieng, who made a comeback, and the clear chances squandered by Victor Omune.
As a result, AFC Leopards’ hopes of finishing in the top four were dashed, leaving them in sixth place with 30 points, eight points behind the league leaders Kenya Police.

Given that Kariobangi Sharks needed the victory far more than the hosts due to their recent poor form, Muluya expressed satisfaction with the point earned, especially when considering the opposition and the fans who packed the stadium.
“When you look at the context today, with AFC Leopards’ players and the fans who came to the stadium, we can’t say we lost this match. Coming out with one point is a positive result for us. I can’t complain because that point has really helped us,” he said.

He also noted that the match was a tough one, but the team that capitalized on their chances would have emerged victorious. However, neither side was able to take full advantage of their opportunities.
“This match was one where whoever took their chances well would win. In the first half, we had two chances from Steve Mbulere and Isaac Memusi, and in the second half, Ally Salum also had a clear opportunity.
AFC Leopards also had their chances, especially from Victor Omune. These were opportunities that were created but unfortunately they were not converted,” Muluya explained.

Looking ahead, Muluya remains optimistic about upcoming matches, confident that the return of sidelined players will start to yield positive results.
Salum and Biron Ochieng made their comebacks and had a chance to feature on Sunday.
