Gor Mahia players in Machakos.

Kenya’s reigning champions, Gor Mahia, will look to extend their strong home form when they host Posta Rangers on Saturday evening, 1 February, at the Dandora Stadium in Nairobi.

The match is set to kick off at 4:00 PM, marking Gor Mahia’s second match away from their usual venue, Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos County, where they typically play their home games.

Their most recent match at Dandora was in October last year, when they hosted KCB.

Additionally, K’Ogalo have only suffered one defeat in their home games, a 1-0 loss to Bidco United, having accumulated 18 points from five wins and three draws in their home fixtures.

Zedekiah Otieno’s side are coming off a hard-fought 0-0 draw against Kakamega Homeboyz last weekend at Mumias Complex, which left them in third place on the log with 28 points.

Having lost just one of their last six matches, Gor Mahia will aim to narrow the point gap with log leaders Tusker and Police FC, who sit eight points ahead with 36 points.

While the 21-time top-flight champions are focused on closing the gap with the league leaders, things are less favorable for Posta Rangers, who have only secured four wins in their 18 league matches this season.

However, under new head coach Sammy Omollo “Pamzo,” who took over two weeks ago, Posta Rangers managed a 2-1 victory over FC Talanta last weekend.

Despite the win, they remain rooted at the bottom of the table, struggling to escape the relegation zone.

Pamzo, in his third match in charge, will be determined to guide the club to another crucial three points against Gor Mahia.

In the first leg, Gor Mahia triumphed 3-0 at the Kenyatta Stadium. Bryson Wangai opened the scoring, followed by Austin Odhiambo doubling the lead, and Gedeon Bendeka sealed the win with a third goal.

However, Gor Mahia’s lineup may be affected by injuries, with the availability of both Austin Odhiambo and Bryson Wangai uncertain.

Odhiambo has been sidelined for the past two matches, while Wangai missed the encounter against Kakamega Homeboyz. Coach Zico may opt for Sharrif Musa and Samuel Kapen to cover for their absences.

While the clash continues in Dandora, Kakamega Homeboyz will aim to build on the point they secured against Gor Mahia when they host Mara Sugar at Mumias Sports Complex in Kakamega County at 2:00 PM.

Mara Sugar, on the other hand, will be looking to bounce back from a 1-0 setback against Police FC.

FC Talanta, who suffered at the hands of Posta Rangers last weekend, will take on Mathare United at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos County.

John Kamau’s side, coming off a 3-0 defeat to Mara Sugar, will kick off their match at 3:00 PM.
