Gor Mahia

Record Kenyan champions Gor Mahia run the risk of being taken to world football governing body FIFA if they fail to refund the amount they received as transfer fees for the botched sale of defender Ronney Onyango.

Back in November 2024, Tanzanian topflight side Singida Black Stars expressed interest in signing the K’Ogalo right back and even went ahead to inquire about his services.

K’Ogalo slapped a USD 40,000 (approximately Ksh 5,170,000) figure as his transfer fee that Singida agreed to pay.

“On the 14.11.2024, you replied to our request and stated your acceptance of our offer and agree to USD 40,000 being the transfer fees of the said player.

On the 15.11.2024, our Club transferred the agreed amount to your Club through the account you provided to us for the transactions,” a statement from Singida read.

However, despite payment of the transfer fees, the deal never materialized as reports state Onyango was not keen on the switch.

Singida then went ahead to ask for a refund of their transfer fees at the start of January this year, calls that have so far landed on deaf ears since K’Ogalo has failed to wire back the amount.

The Tanzanian club have now given Gor Mahia 14 days to refund the money or face themselves with a case to answer at FIFA for breach of agreement.

Gor Mahia given ultimatum

“Our Club wrote to your Club on the 3.1.2025 requesting your club to kindly refund the said amount of USD 40,000 since the transfer did not materialize due to your fault.

It is unfortunate that to date we have not received any response to our letter neither have we received the refund.

In the same context, your club is given 14 days within which to pay all the outstanding balance of 40,000 USD.

Failure to do so our club will refer the matter to FIFA for breach our agreement,” the statement from Singida noted.
