KCB will be looking to rebound from their disappointing 1-1 draw against Nairobi City Stars last weekend when they host AFC Leopards on Wednesday 22 January at the SportPesa Arena in Murang’a.
The bankers had been holding the top position in the standings before suffering two recent setbacks—a 2-0 defeat against Shabana at Gusii Stadium followed by a 1-1 draw to kick off the new year – which allowed the in-form Tusker and Police FC to overtake them in first and second place.
KCB now sit in third place with 28 points from 16 matches having registered seven wins, seven draws and two defeats.

Meanwhile, Fred Ambani’s side faced a massive blow on Saturday, suffering a 4-2 loss to FC Talanta at the Dandora Stadium, a result that saw them drop to eighth place with 22 points from 16 matches.
This match promises to be a fierce rivalry, with KCB’s Patrick Odhiambo warning his players against complacency as they prepare to face a formidable opponent.
“AFC Leopards is a top team. We all know their potential and we have no doubts about their capabilities. Therefore, we must be at our best to secure maximum points. Of course, we need to keep winning to stay on top and, hopefully, clinch the title at the end of the season,” Odhiambo told Pulse Sport.
On the other hand, Ambani expressed disappointment over the club’s loss to Talanta FC but acknowledged internal issues within the team, hoping for improvements as they prepare for the next challenge.
“We lost this match, but I know there were other factors involved that I prefer not to discuss because it’s frustrating. Now, we need to regroup and prepare for the next match,” Ambani told Azam TV after the match.
Police FC Vs Bandari FC
As the two sides clash in Murang’a, another thrilling encounter will take place at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos where Police FC will host Bandari FC at 1:00 p.m.

The law enforcers have been in excellent form since the arrival of new manager Ndayiragije Etienne and will be aiming for their ninth consecutive unbeaten match.
They currently occupy second place with 30 points, just three points behind leaders Tusker who have 33 points.

A victory could see Police leapfrog the Brewers into the top spot given their superior goal difference.
On the other hand, Ken Odhiambo’s Bandari, who are looking to secure their third consecutive win following a 1-0 triumph over Murang’a SEAL will be determined to end their six-match winless streak.
Last weekend, they were held to a 1-1 draw by Shabana at Mbaraki Sports Club in Mombasa.
Bandari currently sit in seventh place and a win could propel them to 26 points, boosting their position further up the standings.
