The Kenya men’s rugby 7s team, popularly known as Shujaa, is set to compete in the third outing of the HSBC SVNS 2025 Series taking place in Perth, Australia from 24-26 2025.
Shujaa, who have registered some encouraging performances in the Dubai and Cape Town legs of the premier competition, will be aiming to pick up more points to minimize their chances of being relegated.
The Kevin Wambua-coached side occupies ninth position in the standings at the moment with 11 points, 25 less than leaders Fiji.
In addition, they are just a point behind Perth HSBC SVNS hosts Australia and Great Britain who accumulated less points than them in the Cape Town edition.

Tough Pool
Shujaa will have to be at their best in order to shine in the upcoming event since they have been grouped in a tough pool that has Fiji, Uruguay and New Zealand.
Pool A has the Cape Town winners South Africa, Australia, the United States of America (USA) and heavyweights Argentina while Ireland, Great Britain, Spain and France will square it out in Pool B.
Speaking after the draw that was conducted at the HBF Park, Sam Pinder, who serves as the World Rugby Sevens general manager, was confident that the upcoming leg will be even better.
“HSBC SVNS Perth pool draw has delivered some mouth-watering match-ups and kicks off an exciting year for rugby sevens with Perth set to deliver another festival of world class sevens, music and entertainment in a festival atmosphere at HBF Park.
The opening two rounds of HSBC SVNS 2025 showed it is all to play for on the pitch with four different winners so far and exciting new talent emerging alongside many of the stars of the Olympic Games.

Kenya 7s fixtures and schedule
Friday 24 January
Shujaa are set to kick start their Perth HSBC SVNS campaign against New Zealand at 6:00 AM East African Time (EAT) on January 24 at the HBF Stadium.
The talented side will then lock horns with pre-match favorites Fiji from exactly 10:59 AM EAT.
The second day of the tournament will see Shujaa battle it out with Uruguay at 7:00 AM EAT.
The Kenyan men are likely to triumph in this match since both nations earned promotion to the HSBC SVNS in 2024.
