Former AFC Leopards player Ezekiel Otuoma has passed on after a long battle with motor neurone disease.

The deceased’s wife Racheal Otuoma broke the sad news on Saturday morning via her social media platform.

“To my husband, you left a hole in my heart that no one else can fill. The emptiness in my arms reminds me of the love we shared.

Your love was a gift and I’ll cherish it always. Though it was so soon, that really broke my heart. You left on my birthday. It will never be the same again.

You never said I am leaving or even showed a sign. You never said goodbye. In life, I loved you dearly. In my heart you hold a place that only you can fill.

It breaks my heart to lose you, but you didn’t go alone – a part of me went with you. Till we meet again,” her statement read in part.

Besides featuring for AFC Leopards, the late Otuoma also played for Muhoroni Youth FC, Ulinzi Stars FC, FC Talanta, Ushuru FC and Western Stima

Ex-Harambee Stars and Yanga S.C striker Boniface Ambani is among thousands of football stakeholders who have sent a message of condolences to the family and friends of the late Otuoma.

“I don’t know what to say. Recho, I had to call you to confirm that early morning. Otuoma you’ve fought this war gallantly. It has been a long fight. I remember raising the alarm when I realized something was going wrong in his life, health wise.

You lost the war, but the battle still continues. You’re a testimony of how clubs should take issues seriously when it comes to medical issues and insurance covers. Comrade, it’s, you’ve departed. Rest well champ,” stated Ambani.

He also praised the deceased’s wife for the huge role she played to support Otuoma during his battle with illness.
