Harambee Stars captain Michael Ogada Olunga entered into the record books of Qatari giants Al-Duhail on Friday night.
This is after the Kenyan international scored a goal in Al-Duhail’s 6-2 hammering of Al-Shamal to become the club’s all-time leading goal scorer with an impressive 121 goals.
Olunga found the back of the net in the 24th minute of the epic clash staged at the Al-Khwar Stadium.
He received a well-placed pass from Luis Alberto, looked at the goalkeeper’s position, before firing a ferocious shot into the far bottom-left corner that saw him make history with Al Duhail.

Michael Olunga seeks another Golden Boot
The goal was Olunga’s eighth of the 2024/2025 season and the fifth in five consecutive fixtures.
Moreover, it propelled him to the top of the Qatar Stars League Golden Boot race, where he is joined by Al-Sadd forward Raja Mujica.
Besides getting his name on the score sheet, Olunga also provided two assists for the Christopher Galtier-coached side to ensure they picked up all three points.
The other goals for Al-Duhail were scored by Alberto, Mohammed Musa (own goal), Lucas Verissimo, and Almoez Ali who netted a brace while Younes Belhanda and Baghdad Bounedjah netted Al-Shamal’s goals.

Speaking after the match, Galtier praised his players for the top-class performance and acknowledged that they cannot afford to lose concentration.
“The victory of all our team’s direct competitors has increased the intensity of the competition. The season is still long and difficult and all the teams will be looking to win and pursue the lead.
We must never relax and strive to achieve what is required and win the league championship,” he was quoted by the club’s website.
The important victory increased Al-Duhail’s tally at the top of the table to 22 points, four ahead of fellow title contenders Al-Sadd and Al-Ahli.
