Harambee Stars

The men’s national football team, Harambee Stars, has dropped four places in the latest FIFA rankings, falling from position 102 to 106.

This decline follows back-to-back losses in their Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 qualifying matches against Cameroon where they were defeated 4-1 in the first leg played in Yaounde and 1-0 in the second leg staged in Uganda.

Uganda continues to lead the CECAFA region, currently sitting in 87th position in the world after back-to-back wins against South Sudan in Group K of the AFCON qualifiers.

Tanzania has dropped to position 112, while Sudan has made a significant leap to position 110, closely following Kenya after securing four points (1W 1D) against Ghana in Group F.

In Africa, Morocco leads the continent, ranking 13th globally while Senegal is in second place and 20th in the world. Egypt close the top three positions and are 30th globally.

Nigeria and Algeria are in fourth and fifth places, ranking 36th and 37th in the world respectively.

Globally, Argentina tops the rankings, followed closely by France, with Spain in third place.

England and Brazil occupy the fourth and fifth positions.

The top ten has seen some changes, with Portugal moving up from 8th to 7th while the Netherlands has dropped from 7th to 8th. Italy and Colombia close the top ten positions globally.

Comoros is the biggest climber, rising ten spots, while Tunisia has dropped eleven places.

Kenya is currently in third place in Group J of the AFCON 2025 qualifiers with 4 points after four games.

They are behind leaders Cameroon (10 points) and Zimbabwe (8 points) with only two matches left where they face Zimbabwe and Namibia.

Namibia is last in the group on zero points.
