The eagerly awaited CECAFA U20 final pitting the Kenya U20 and Tanzania U20 is set to go down on Sunday evening at the KMC Stadium in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
The match promises to be a thriller since the two sides are enjoying fine form at the moment and already locked horns in the group stage a few days ago where Tanzania suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat.
Kenya’s Rising Stars, who have become a popular side back at home due to their breathtaking displays in the tournament, qualified for the final after hammering Burundi 4-0 in the semis played on Friday night.
The Salim Babu-coached side scored their goals through star player Aldrine Kibet, Louise Ingavi, Hassan Beja and Lawrence Okoth.

The important win ensured the Kenyan youngsters made history by qualifying for the U20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament for the first time in its history.
Speaking ahead of Sunday’s clash, coach Babu stated that his side will fight to the end to ensure they return to Nairobi with the coveted title.
“Since we beat Tanzania in the group stage, it makes the final more difficult because they will be out to try and revenge. But we have prepared well and the players are determined to try and win the title,” he said.
On his part, Tanzania’s head coach Charles Boniface Mkwasa noted that they will only be contented once they attain all their objectives.

“We are very happy the team has already qualified for the AFCON U-20 and one mission has been achieved, but now we are looking at the title that we shall work hard to win,” explained Mkwasa.
The hosts had to overcome pre-tournament favorites Uganda 2-1 to book proceed to the final. Sabri Kondo and Jammy Jammy were on the score sheet for the Ngongoro Heroes while Uganda’s goal was scored by Brian Toto in the epic match decided in extra time.
Despite what happens in Sunday’s final that will start at 3 pm, the two teams will have something to smile about since they will both represent the region in the U20 AFCON 2025 tournament.
