Harambee Stars midfielder Timothy Ouma has renewed his contract with Swedish topflight side IF Elfsborg until 2027.
Ouma, who had two seasons remaining with the club, signed the new deal amid rumors linking him to several clubs in the English Premier League and a potential move to AS Roma.
“IF Elfsborg is pleased to announce that we have agreed on a contract extension with Timothy Ouma. The new agreement extends through the 2027 season,” read a statement from the team’s social media.
Luton and Bournemouth were among the clubs reportedly interested in signing him during the last transfer window, while scouts from Manchester United and various Spanish clubs were seen at Borås Arena scouting the player.
Ouma joined Elfsborg in 2022 from Nairobi City Stars and has played 34 matches for the team since then.
In September, he helped them secure a win in the Europa League by scoring a goal in their 3-2 victory over AZ Alkmaar.
He also scored a crucial goal in a hard-fought Allsvenskan match against IFK Norrköping, which ended in a 2-2 draw.
In an interview with the club’s media, Ouma expressed that his new contract is a result of his hard work and stated he is happy to remain with the team.

“I have worked hard since I came to Elfsborg and now I am finally getting the results I want. I am very happy to have signed a new contract,” he said.
Ouma added that while he feels he has performed well in recent matches, he is eager to improve further.
“I have been waiting for my chance, and when I got it at the beginning of the summer, I took it. I think I have performed well, especially recently, but I still want to get even better every day,” he noted.
Club manager Stefan Andreasson praised Ouma, highlighting his continuous improvement since joining the club in 2022.
“With great patience and impressive work from our coaching staff, Timothy has developed every year since he came to us from Nairobi City Stars in the summer of 2022.”

He also confirmed that some of the European clubs were interested in signing the Kenyan International player.
“There has been interest from foreign clubs but after good discussions during the summer, we decided that continuing with Elfsborg is the best option right now,” he added.
IF Elfsborg head coach Oscar Hiljemark also expressed happiness over Ouma’s recent progress as he looks forward to working and see the player improve.
“We are pleased that IF Elfsborg and Timothy have agreed on a contract extension.
He has shown significant development, especially in the last few months and has been responsible for many strong performances. We look forward to continuing our work together,” he reiterated.
