The senior men’s national football team, Harambee Stars, has gained six places in the latest FIFA World Rankings released on Thursday 19 September.
The rise comes just days after their performances in the 2025 AFCON Qualifiers where they played to a barren stalemate against Zimbabwe before recording a significant 2-1 victory over Namibia in Group J.
Previously, the team was in position 108 but have since made the jump to 102 as they prepare to face five-time African champions Cameroon in October.

In Group J, Kenya leads with 4 points, level with Cameroon but separated by goal difference. Zimbabwe is in third place with 2 points while Namibia is yet to score any point.
The Harambee Stars have gained 11 points, bringing their total to 1208, positioning them 23rd in Africa, just behind Uganda who are ranked 90th.
Tanzania has also made progress, moving up three spots following a victory against Guinea and a draw with Ethiopia.

In the African rankings, Morocco, the 2022 World Cup semifinalists, lead at 14th in the world, followed by Senegal at 20th with Egypt, Ivory Coast, and Tunisia holding the 3rd, 4th, and 5th spots, respectively.
Globally, it is getting tighter at the summit. After respectively being beaten 2-1 away to Colombia and 3-1 at home to Italy, Argentina (1st) and France (2nd) will be looking nervously in their proverbial rear-view mirrors.
Spain (3rd) and England (4th) are looming large in pursuit, with Brazil (5th) and Belgium (6th) hot on their heels. Yet, despite the tremors, the top ten remains unchanged, continuing to be rounded off by the Netherlands (7th), Portugal (8th), Colombia (9th) and Italy (10th).
