The Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) had a lot to offer last weekend with some clubs that were expected to win their matches getting humbled.

In addition, a number of stakeholders like FC Talanta head coach Jackline Juma and KCB new boy Danson Kiprono entered their names into history books for different reasons.

Kiprono was sent off in his debut for the Bankers after receiving two yellow cards while Juma became the first woman to guide a club to a win since the inception of the league.

Posta Rangers squeeze past AFC Leopards in Machakos

12-time champions AFC Leopards suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat against a determined Posta Rangers in a match played at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.

Posta Rangers’ took the lead in the 71st minute through Felix Oluoch who scored a beauty of a goal to break the hearts of Ingwe fans.

The goal forced AFC Leopards manager Thomas Trucha to make three substitutions in a bid to find an equalizer.

He brought off Bonface Munyendo, Arthur Gitego and Kayci Odhiambo and replaced them with Brian Wanyama, Sydney Lokale and Mousa Oundo.

However, although Gitego got a goal scoring chance in the closing stages of the match, he fired his shot wide.

The defeat was Ingwe’s first of the season and made them drop to position five, a point behind leaders KCB.

Jackline Juma makes history with FC Talanta

On Saturday, FC Talanta tactician Jackline Juma had a debut to remember, as she helped her side pick up the maximum points against a stubborn Sofapaka side.

Alex Juma’s well-struck injury time penalty was enough to sink Sofapaka in the hotly contested clash that was played at the Machakos-based Kenyatta Stadium.

The win ensured Juma became the only woman in the history of the topflight league to secure a victory.

In addition, it worsens Sofapaka’s situation, sending them to the bottom of the log standings having lost their opening two matches.

KCB go top after seeing off Murang’a Seal

KCB climbed to the top of FKFPL table after securing a 2-0 win over Murang’a Seal in a match staged at the SportPesa Arena on Sunday.

The Bankers scored their goal via Haniff Wesongah (46’) and Patrick Otieno (60’) to silence the home supporters.

Despite going a man down in injury time, KCB managed to hold onto the lead, a win that helped them to sit at the top of the league for the first time this season.

Meanwhile, Murang’a Seal who have amassed three points so far, dropped to position nine.
