Pamela Owino

Malkia Strikers’ ace Pamela Owino was received like a queen by her new teammates in Finland.

Owino joined LP Viesti Volleyball from the reigning national champions Kenya Pipeline after the recently concluded 2024 Paris Olympic Games where she was one of Malkia Strikers’ standout players.

In Paris, the 24-year-old produced a player of the match performance in the game against heavyweights Poland but Kenya lost 3-0.

She led the scoring charts with 15 points, two more than compatriot Veronicah Aluoch managed in that encounter.

On Monday morning Owino posted several photos of how the welcoming ceremony went down.

In one of the photos, she is seen holding a paper with white paint splashed around her mouth.

The outside hitter wrote a brief message on her social media account, appreciating her teammates for the unforgettable reception.

“My teammates at LP Viesti Volleyball had a special way of welcoming me to the club during our trip.

Their kindness, inclusivity, and support made me feel right at home, and I am grateful to be part of such an amazing group,” she explained.

Owino is not the only Malkia Strikers player who landed a professional contract in Europe after the Olympic Games.

Her teammate Veronica Adhiambo departed for Greece on Monday where she is set to play for GS Panionios after extending her contract by one year.

The left attacker promised to work harder after getting another opportunity to play for GS Panionios.

“I must have impressed during my first time, no wonder my contract was renewed. It gives me so much desire and pleasure to even double my effort.

It always feels good when your services are appreciated, noticed and needed. Participating in the Olympics for the first time was definitely an eye opener and I hope to make a return,” she was quoted by the SJAK website.
