What the coaches said before the game?
Julien Mette — Tusker FC Head Coach
Mette has played down the prospect of Tusker being intimidated by Singida’s bigger budget and the strength of the Tanzanian league, insisting that his players must approach the contest with belief.
“We are not facing a big giant. We are facing a better team who plays in a better league, who has a bigger budget. But that’s not a giant.”
Hussein Massanza — Singida Black Stars Information Officer
Singida, meanwhile, are approaching the tie with the same ambition and have warned against underestimating Tusker despite their impressive first-round campaign.
“We consider this a very important match because we are just one step away from reaching the group stage. We cannot treat it as an easy game or regard Tusker as an easy opponent. We have more quality players and experience than them but the nature of this tie will make them a tough opponent.”
