- Gor Mahia out to maintain perfect start after 4-2 win against Murang’a Seal in season opener.
- They face APS Bomet in Homabay on Saturday afternoon.
- The match will kick off at 3PM.
Record Kenyan champions Gor Mahia will be seeking to maintain their perfect start to the 26/27 SportPesa League campaign when they travel away to face APS Bomet at the home of their spiritual patron at the Raila Odinga Stadium in Homabay on Saturday afternoon.
The 22-time Kenyan champions recorded an impressive 4-2 win over Murang’a Seal in their opening encounter and will be looking to build on that result in their second league clash as they hunt another record-extending crown.
In their opening game, a brace from Shariff Musa, who has been one of their standout performers, and goals from Alpha Onyango and a possible goal of the season contender from Jackson Dwang’ saw K’Ogalo register an early statement of intent despite appearing to struggle in the off-season preparations.

Gor Mahia out to maintain perfect start
Speaking ahead of the clash against Bomet, Gor’s Ghanaian head coach Charles Akonnor acknowledged the challenged posed by the opponents as he called on his side not to underestimate them, praising their manager Sammy ‘Pamzo’ Omollo for the stellar job at the club.
“We need to assess the opponent very well. They have a coach who understands the game deeply and knows what to do at every given time. He worked so hard last season to get them out of trouble and in the last 10 games before the season came to an end, he was the best manager.
“It is a big task for us, but we can achieve success if we work aggressively and maintain our momentum by keeping the ball and progressing into the opponent’s half. That will be our way of approaching the game. We are determined to get a good result tomorrow,” he said.
Despite scoring four goals, Gor conceded two late goals in the last fifteen minutes, putting a little stain to their performance, leaving Akonnor with work to do as the season progresses.
“We will have to see to it and rectify those (defensive) mistakes and improve. But what was positive was that we scored four goals. It is an impressive performance that needs encouragement. We will look at the two goals we conceded and see how we can prevent them in the near future,” he noted.
On their part, Bomet got their season off to a barren stalemate in an away clash against Mathare United and will be looking for their first win when they play at home.
The game will kick off at 3PM.
