Kisumu RFC forward Harrison Mauve and Kabras RFC’s Mike Lukusi have been rewarded for their impressive performances in the 2026 SportPesa National 7s Circuit after earning places in the Kenya Morans squad for the Safari 7s.
The two are among six players set to make their Morans debuts when the 28th edition of the Safari 7s kicks off at Nyayo National Stadium on Friday, October 9.
Mauve was one of the consistent performers for Kisumu RFC throughout the National 7s campaign, playing a key role as the western Kenya side competed across the circuit and was the overral leading try-scorer with 33 tries .
His consistency from Prinsloo 7s, Dala 7s, Kabeberi 7s, Driftwood 7s, Embu 7s and Christie 7s has eventually earned him recognition from the Morans selectors, with the Safari 7s providing him with an opportunity to step onto the international invitational stage.

Lukusi has also been rewarded after an impressive campaign with Kabras RFC.
The forward was part of the Kabras side that remained among the leading contenders throughout the National 7s Circuit and played an important role as the Kakamega-based club battled for honours.
Kabras were among the strongest sides on the circuit, with their performances setting them up for another competitive season in the shorter format. Lukusi’s displays, particularly his physicality and work around the breakdown, caught the attention of the national team selectors.
Their call-ups come as some established names miss out, with Siketa among those left out of the final squad.
The Morans will be led by co-captains Clinton Amukwachi and Dennis Ndayala, with the squad combining players making their first appearance for the side and those who have already gained experience at the national level.
Mathias Osimbo, Stanslaus Shikoli, Patrick Kluivert, Lukusi, Mauve and Brighton Omondi will all be hoping to make their mark on their Morans debuts.
They will be supported by experienced campaigners Patrick Sabatia, Eugene Ojiambo, Arnold Agonda and Lucky Onyango.

Morans face Zimbabwe in Pool C
The Morans have been drawn in Pool C alongside Zimbabwe, GEL Squad 7s and Wonder 7s.
Their campaign begins on Friday when they take on GEL Squad 7s at 4:28pm.
They will then face Wonder 7s on Saturday morning at 10:57am before completing their pool-stage programme against Zimbabwe at 4:23pm.
The Zimbabwe clash could prove particularly important as the Morans look to navigate a competitive group and secure progression to the knockout stages.
The Morans will enter the tournament with confidence after their recent performances on the continental circuit, but the Safari 7s will provide a different test with a number of international and invitational teams descending on Nairobi.
For Mauve and Lukusi, the tournament offers an opportunity to show that their performances on the domestic circuit were no coincidence.
Their selection also underlines the role of the National 7s Circuit in identifying and giving a pathway to players who can compete at a higher level.
With the Safari 7s attracting teams from across the world, the two players will be keen to make the most of their first Morans call-up and establish themselves as part of Kenya’s growing sevens talent pool.
