Cameroon are out to take full charge of Group G when they take on Congo in their second 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Tuesday evening.
The Indomitable Lions got their qualifying campaign off to a winning start with a 3-1 victory against Comoros, while Congo lost narrowly 1-0 to Namibia.
The match is part of the second round of the AFCON PAMOJA 2027 qualifiers, which are being played across Africa ahead of next year’s tournament in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.
Congo need to muster enough courage if they are to register a positive result against a Cameroon side ranked 43rd by the latest FIFA rankings.
The hosts are ranked a lowly 143rd ahead of this game, though playing at home gives Congo an opportunity to respond immediately.
The most encouraging aspect of Cameroon’s opening performance was their ability to score three goals despite their relatively inexperienced squad.
They come into this match as favorites despite head coach David Pagou opting to leave out some of Cameroon’s household names for the qualifiers.

Congo will be hoping to make changes after their disappointing defeat to Namibia, with the biggest priority being improving their attacking efficiency after failing to score.
South Africa-based Bethuel Muzeu scored the only goal for Congo in the opening match from the bench and this could be enough to hand him a start here.
Silvere Ganvoula and Mons Bassuamina will lead the attacking line for the home team.
As for the visitors, Bryan Mbeumo will retain his place in the starting XI as well as Karl Etta Eyong in the final third.
Pagou’s squad contains a number of young players, including Angel Yondjo, Bill Nsongo, Emmanuel Moungam, Christian Kofane, Mahamadou Nagida and Junior Samuel Kotto.
They will however have to settle for a spot on the bench as Pagou looks to maintain a similar XI here.
