Kenya’s sensational thrower David Munyua has qualified for the Paddy Power World Darts Championship for a historic back-to-back appearance.
Munyua will return to Alexandra Palace after securing his place at this year’s tournament through the North African qualification route.
Competing in the African Darts Group – Northern Africa qualifier on Sunday, Munyua prevailed in a fiercely contested event to book his place, despite averaging in the low 80s on his path to the final, where he overcame Evans Njuguna in a dramatic final leg to win 8-7.

Munyua, also known as “Why Not?”, will be one of at least two African players to feature at Ally Pally at the end of this year after the PDC created a Southern Africa qualifier to ensure at least two players from the continent will compete at the World Championship.
The Southern Africa qualification tournament will take place at the start of November.
Munyua, who turns 31 in October, was one of several crowd favourites at Ally Pally during the 2026 World Darts Championship, where he became the first Kenyan darts player to feature at the prestigious tournament.
He was drawn against 2024 World Grand Prix champion Mike De Decker in the opening round, and after losing the first two sets, Munyua won three on the spin to produce an astonishing comeback and one of the biggest shocks in World Darts Championship history.

Unfortunately, Munyua’s dream run was extinguished in the next round as he was defeated in straight sets by Kevin Doets. However, the Nairobi-based veterinarian will have another opportunity to cause an upset at Alexandra Palace this December.
Several popular figures have already secured their spots at this year’s World Championship. From the PDC Asian Tour, Motumi Sakai and his iconic walk-on will return.
The eccentric Japanese star made his World Championship debut last year, defeating Thibault Tricole 3-0 before losing to Nordic & Baltic qualifier Andreas Harrysson.
Hong Kong darts player Lok Yin Lee will also be back at the Palace. He was another to secure a sensational first-round victory, eliminating Chris Landman in a 3-1 triumph before bowing out to Brendan Dolan.
Other Asian qualifiers include Ryuta Arihara, Christian Perez and Haruki Muramatsu, along with Paolo Nebrida and Macau debutant Kam Weng Cheng.
From North America, Canada’s David Cameron and USA’s Adam Sevada will feature, while Argentina has a representative in Jesus Salate.
Australian Brody Klinge will continue his excellent breakthrough season by appearing at the Worlds for the first time alongside compatriot Mal Cuming and Kiwi Ben Robb.
